Personality as a Brand

When we all meet someone the personality they entail says a lot about what kind of person they are. The same holds true for a brand. It is very important as a brand to have personality. The reason this is true is because when people are looking to connect with a brand they look for an aspect about the brand that makes them feel comfortable and want to build a relationship with. Basically, your brands personality is whats perceived by others meaning your audience and consumers.

When developing the personality of your brand ask yourself a couple questions that will aid you in developing the right one that will encompass a positive impact.

  • Who am I? What kind of results do I want to see?
  • Is my brand one that everyone wants to connect with or am I trying to target a specific audience?
  • Does my personality fit my brand identity and is it strong enough to make a lasting impression?
  • How do I want to be perceived by my customers and audience?
  • Does my personality define me?
  • If my brand were human what would be my characteristics?

Once you develop your brand personality, the marketing strategy aspect of your brand becomes somewhat easier to create. Make sure all departments of your brand are working together as a team and agree as a team to make this happen. I have seen many brands fail when trying to develop a personality because they fail to work as a team which leads to a lot of chaos, disagreement and disaster.

So sit down with all departments of your brand and ask each other, “Are we being perceived in a way that makes us successful?” During the meeting with all departments, be sure to develop a set of social media guidelines or principles to help guide employees when carrying out tasks and communicating “as the brand”. If your brand is not being perceived as being successful take into consideration what I have talked about and start developing the visual personification your brand deserves. After all, personality can say a thousand words about who we are as brand.

How Social Media Can Grow Your Business

Social media is more than just a buzzword. There are opportunities and measureable results that it offers that can be extremely beneficial to companies of all sizes. While Facebook and Twitter may be included it’s more than that.

Many times people get so caught up in the tools that little time is spent talking and strategizing about what Social Media can actually do for them and their business. Tools are great if you know how to use them, but at some point the tools need to have purpose. It’s where there is no purpose that abuse becomes the end result.

I often hear small to mid-size companies ask to help implement Social Media strategies into their overall marketing plan with a skewed outlook of what Social Media is and what its benefits are. However, if you know what Social Media isn’t, then it’s a lot easier to grasp what it can do.

If you have a good product, a detailed business plan, and customer service policies in place and willing to invest time, here are a few things that Social Media can do for your business:

  • Gives you the opportunity to begin listening to what others are saying about your company online.
  • Allow you to have one-to-one communication with your consumers.
  • It can be used to gather feedback about new products.
  • It personalizes your corporation/brand
  • Provides channels to produce and distribute exclusive content that can be shared which in return extends the voice of your brand.
  • Can be used to share exclusive information and offers to your loyalists.
  • It’s an extension to your public relations strategies
  • Provides platforms to build communities for your brand enthusiasts around your product and company.
  • Offers opportunities that will bring exposure to your company.
  • Provides potential opportunities for word-of-mouth buzz about your company and products.

While I know this isn’t the end of a list of benefits, it is a good place to begin thinking about the benefits that Social Media provides. Once you know what it can do, building strategies is your next course of action.

I want to hear from you. How has Social Media helped you or your business grow? Also, feel free to add to the list I have compiled.

The Age of Stock Photography

A picture can either make or break an advertising campaign. Are you being creative and using one that your business created or being generic and using a stock photo? You may ask, “What is a stock photo”? A stock photo is a photograph that can be licensed for public or commercial use, which are usually found on professional stock photography websites such as Shutterstock, iStockPhoto, or by simply doing a Google search for a specific type of photo.

When a business uses these types of photos for a digital advertising campaign, they encounter positive and negative results. There are many pros and cons that we would like to share with you that can influence the campaign.

Pros
• Saves you time
• Endless Choices
• Professional Quality
• Great way to save on Marketing Costs

Cons
• Difficult to differentiate your brand and target
• Image overuse in the online world
• Not being original
• Lack of creativity and not being unique

As you can see the use of stock photography can have its advantages and disadvantages. I personally do not like to use stock photos. I look for something that sets apart from others, makes something unique and gives a brand and clients brand a fresh image. A unique digital advertising agency should be producing creative digital ads with professional quality through live photo shoots and interactive video content that best suits the targeted campaign, which makes them original, real and successful.

I completely understand that time is of the essence and you may not have the time to create your own personal digital ads but for a brand to be focused you must plan and produce for originality to be in full force. As a result, your campaign becomes one of a kind, influences and sells with positive results.

The Part They Left Out

In the Social Media world, I believe we should work together and help one another. Also, defend our followers when a brand or other follower conveys negativity about them. My reason for making this known is because as many of you know, US News recently published an article by listing America’s worst and meanest airlines where Delta ranked number 1. Aspects that contributed to this included number of delays, mishandled baggage, on-time arrival and denied boardings. I don’t care which airline you fly on, each airline has their own problems.

I am here today to rally against US News and say they obviously didn’t do their homework when it comes to Delta’s customer service and the way they treat their customers. I have flew with Delta many times and have had nothing but amazing and excellent customer service along with positive energy on every flight by the attendants.

I now would like to share with you the way Delta interacts and engages as a brand on Social Media with their customers by posting some tweets and shining the spotlight on them in a positive way and give them the exposure they deserve.

SherriAnneGreen – @Delta rocks. Feedback heard, feedback addressed.

DeltaAssist – @dereksnyder I’m sorry for the inconvenience, but your safety is our number one concern. ^JD

DeltaAssist – @omylola Let me be the first to welcome you home. Thanks for your patronage! ^WG

DeltaAssist – Thanks @maxtucci for the great feedback. Glad to see you gave us a chance to make things right. ^JD

MaxTucci – Got a phone call from @delta telling me about a delay, for the inconvenience they gave me a $50 voucher BEST Customer Service www.delta.com

Bissesar – @Delta waiting for your 787s to enter service…cheers to the largest airline!!!you rock Delta

DeltaAssist – @alisongroves, thx for tweeting. Sorry for the sadface. Is there anything I can do to assist you & turn that frown into a smile? DM me. ^JH

ElainePace – I heart @DeltaAssist and I chose to fly @Delta because of all the ways they take care of their customers

Delta – Thanks @b_rad408. Delta SkyMiles rock, but you rock more!

As you can see Delta clearly defines customer service in a brand and is not the number 1 worst or meanest airline in my opinion. They listen by responding to every comment and if its a complaint they address it by offering assistance to make it right. So, US News a bit of advice to you. Next time before publishing an article, do your research and add into the mix the amazing things a brand does.

Now I want to hear from you with your thoughts on this article that was published and the hear amazing experiences you have encountered with Delta. Also, I invite you to check out the great things they do on twitter by following them @Delta and @DeltaAssist.

In closing, I remind you to not forgot get to take a stand for your followers whether it be a brand or person. If you do, you make the social media community an inviting place to belong to.

Wordless Wednesday – Promotion of Izea

While attending BlogWorld two weeks ago, I met a lot of great people and networked with so many brands. The brand engagement level was very successful and unique with one brand that really made an impression.

That brand was Izea.

017

While networking with the Izea crew, (Carrie, Kristin, Jamie, Ashley, Larry, Jenni and CEO Ted)

Izea Crew

during the fantastic dinner they hosted

Izea Dinner

I seen that they were dedicated to having fun

Izea Fun

And supplying us with the best German food Vegas had to offer.

Izea Dinner 2

As the BlogWorld Expo progressed, Izea took their networking and engagement level up a notch by showing me how they care and support as a brand by holding an event at their booth to raise money for a local food bank. Which I may add was very successful and exciting to drown CEO Ted Murphy in cereal and milk.

In closing, Izea definitely exceeded my expectations of connecting and networking with a brand. The Izea team always had a smile on their faces, were always saying hello, having fun, putting others first and most importantly making me feel comfortable.   These aspects and the personality they posses defines what a true brand is and should be in Social Media and leads me to want to build a relationship.

I encourage you to take the time to get to know @Izea by checking out their website and contact them to learn how they can reward you in the Social Media world.  Also, learn how they bring a new meaning to Social Media Marketing. So, go ahead and start connecting and networking with a brand that is dedicated to making you first priority. Whether you are an advertiser, blogger, tweeter or mobiler you will see success with Izea.

Also, before you go don’t forget to check out their Motto and have fun while doing it.

Thanks and have a great day.

Taking #IpromoteU To The Road

If you follow me on twitter @blogluvr29 most of you know I am a promoting fool. I developed a passion for promoting around 6 months ago when I began searching for my niche in social media and blogging. I developed this passion because I enjoy seeing success. Times change and we must embrace that change to see success in our future.

As result of change, a new day has dawn and I have progressed by using my creative side. I introduce you to #IpromoteU where I promote your brand, products, service or blog. Along with using my creative side, I have decided to take #IpromoteU to the road where I want to visit cities across the United States and promote those areas of our country that travel bloggers fail to discover and share with their audience.

In addition to taking #IpromoteU to the road, my goal is to take you as my audience with me. You may ask, “How do you plan to do that?” The answer is simple. When I visit a city, I plan to find and schedule a tweetup. At that point during the tweetup, I will be sharing with those in attendance the purpose of my audience and twitter followers in the blogging and social media world by promoting who you are, what you offer and why they should connect with you.

Unfortunately, my goal comes at a price and this is where I ask for you help. I have setup a chip in site to aide in helping me get #IpromoteU on the road. If you want to see me succeed in helping me build my brand and promoting you across the United States then I ask that you spread the word across the social media universe and even donate if you can.

Thanks for all your support and I look forward to reaching my goal in taking #IpromoteU to the road along with you. Also, I encourage you to take a look at what #IpromoteU does by liking the Facebook fan page I have setup. Also, if you are  interested in me promoting a certain area of your state do not hesitate to contact and we will see what we can work out.

Thanks and don’t forget to keep networking, connecting and building relationships. It could be the beginning of a brighter tomorrow.

My Southwest Air Flight to BlogWorld Expo

WOW! Where do I begin? First of all, I have to say in flying with Southwest Air for my first time their customer service was top notch and they really stepped up to the plate in making my flight to BlogWorld a remarkable one. As I arrived at the gate in Raleigh Durham for my flight to Las Vegas, I was greeted with leather chairs which were equipped with a charger for my cell phone or laptop.

The time had come to board my flight and I was in amazement at how the gate agent was dressed which was a male dressed in khaki shorts and a Southwest polo. This told me my airline of choice has a casual attitude and wants to make every one on board feel comfortable.

As I entered the plane, the flight attendants were very graciously welcoming everyone aboard with a smile and helping hand. As the flight took off, the attendants were very knowledgeable in the security procedures which reassured me I was in great hands. When it came time for drinks and snacks the attendants were not holding back anything. They would tell each passenger to take as much as they wanted and it was not a problem to ask for another drink.

The engagement level was very high aboard my flight. The comical comments they made to me personally and to everyone on the plane were extraordinary which led to lots of laughter on board. When a personal conversation was held with me by an attendant they listened and responded in a unique way.

As my BlogWorld experience came to an end in Vegas, it was time to once again experience Southwest. All the aspects I talked about in my arrival flight to Vegas were in order and experienced once again in my departure flight back home.

The only thing I did not like was sitting on the runway for an hour but that was to be expected due to the inclement weather conditions that were taking place. I just want to convey to Southwest Air that my flight was a remarkable one and you will be remembered as an engaging brand that puts LUV into any flight and will always be my airline of choice wherever I may fly next.

Are You Choosing The Right Digital Advertising Agency?

Social media presence is the means of presenting yourself as a brand both online and in the digital world. Unfortunately, not everyone knows how to develop such a presence. When such a problem arises, they immediately turn to an advertising agency for help. When it comes to choosing a digital advertising agency there are many factors, which can dictate how you decide which one is best for you. The appropriate research on an agency will ensure you don’t run into a digital PR catastrophe, or waste advertising dollars.

Some ad agencies have a way of marketing their services in such a way as to trick you into buying fans for their pages, to give the illusion of a “social presence”. Being unknowledgeable about such strategies could easily influence you to pick an agency that isn’t appropriate or experienced for the services you need. If you pay close enough attention to these agencies and their strategies, you will notice they only have 300-600 followers with no interaction. An agency with successful digital strategies has well over 1000 Twitter or Facebook followers. Below are characteristics of an agency you want to avoid in your digital agency of record selection.

• Tweets about themselves, and what THEY are doing constantly
• Does not re-tweet others tweets and never involved in conversations on Twitter
• Uses automated following programs to gain their audience and followers
• Has a Facebook page containing posts with no link
• Can’t provide success stories or share any case studies of their work
• Has a very small following on Twitter and very few likes on Facebook
• Social media pages have little to no subscriber activity
• These firms claim to be social media or digital experts and give seminars for free or at very little cost.

(When is the last time you heard of a real expert giving away free advice?) It is important that the agency you choose understands your business. That is why one of the most important criteria when choosing an advertising agency is ensuring that they know as much about your brand as possible, and that they appear to take an interest in what you do. If they do not then this should be ample enough reason to continue your search for an agency to represent you.

Digital social media and the online world lives, breathes, evolves and constantly changes. Digital advertising agencies have to be able to grow and adapt to a fast paced evolving digital and social media landscape. The whole globe is going digital, and online is the new high street. With a little homework, you can make the right call and will be well on your way of working with an agency that has a confirmed record of success and has the credentials to prove so.

If you are already working with a digital agency or currently interviewing with a digital advertising agency, take a moment in your discovery phase to answer the following questions about the agency.

1. Is the company willing to show you case studies from their client’s digital campaigns?
2. Do they have a digital portfolio?
3. What social media services do they offer?
4. How big is their team’s personal social media presence and audience?
5. Does the company have testimonials from their clients?
6. How many followers do they have on Twitter?
7. How many likes do they have on Facebook?
8. Is their business on Google Maps and do they have ads placed on Google Maps?
9. How is their company using Foursquare?
10. Is there CEO or Creative Director actively using Yelp or Foursquare?

If you answered “No” to more than one of these questions, it is definitely time to start looking for a more digitally savvy advertising firm. What do you look for when choosing a digital advertising agency?
